The publication provides an exemplary account of how the creativity engines of science, art and society can be brought together in the future and places joint research on and learning from fungi at the center of this consideration. Fungi are master builders, metabolic artists, and experts at networking and collaboration. They teach us that cooperation across species boundaries for communal benefit dominates in nature, and help us understand how limited resources can be tapped collaboratively. Thus, the book presents networked scientific, artistic, and civic research projects from 2020 to 2022. Starting from the Department of Applied and Molecular Microbiology at TU Berlin, mushroom biotechnology merged with the arts, design, architecture and citizen science in the Berlin area. In this unique cooperation, concepts for fungus-based biomaterials could be developed that bring sustainable living and dwelling within reach.

The online version can be accessed via the TU Berlin DepositOnce repository (http://dx.doi.org/10.14279/depositonce-15894 ). The high-quality print edition (hardcover, thread-stitched) with a total of 150 pages can be ordered by e-mail (books@berlin-universities-publishing.de) and soon via the publisher's webshop.
