Automated translation, for example, is helping to break down language barriers. At the same time, technological progress is raising far-reaching expectations, not least regarding so-called “Artificial General Intelligence” (AGI). Whether and when such expectations will become a reality remains an open question. What is clear, however, is that artificial intelligence is already having a lasting impact on our society. Given the speed of these developments, the question of how we as a society should address the opportunities and challenges posed by AI is becoming increasingly urgent. The book „AI & Society“, edited by Reinhard Kahle, Harald A. Mieg, and Michael M. Resch, addresses this topic.
