The journal provides critical accounts of the latest developments in key areas of service research. SMR explicitly pursues an interdisciplinary research agenda. SMR is published on a rolling basis, with articles made available online as soon as they are ready.

This is a successful example of a Diamond Open Access transformation from a commercial publisher to Berlin Universities Publishing, with support from Open Library Economics (OLEcon), an initiative of the ZBW – Leibniz Information Centre for Economics.
